Fire Wedge Already

I like Eric Wedge.  Someday, he's going to make a solid manager, but there's no way the Tribe can continue to go in such an awful direction.  Someone has to be accountable.  That someone is Eric Wedge.

Sure, there is the Wickman/Byrd tantrums that clearly show there isn't much control in the clubhouse, but that could happen even in the tighest of run dugouts.  That's not what concerns me.  What concerns me is that there is an attitude of losing with this team.

The attitude spread to the front office when they traded Coco for Marte (although I thought that was a good trade for the Indians...still do, in fact).  Still, there's an attitude that there isn't any urgency to win RIGHT NOW.

Case in point, look at the Tribe's last few starts to the year under Wedge's control.  Awful.

Another issue to ponder is how we can continue to make such awful, sloppy plays in the field.  Are we that bad defensively?  Probably not.

What about the back and forth blowouts...hey, I'll take the maulings we dish out, but those 14-2 and 10-3 sting...although so do the 1-run games where we've lost the last two.

I'm of the belief in that if it's not working, fix it.  People, it's not working.   Wedge isn't the guy.  That's becoming more apparent each day.

We can look at the Florida Marlins of a few years ago for a case study on how a young team, with a veteran manager, can quickly make a turn around.  It's certainly worth a try.

And I know, it's a separate topic, but what really does Jerermy Sowers have left to prove in AAA?  And why is Trevor Crowe not in AA yet (is Nick Panther really blocking him???  or are the Tribe trying to decide whether they want to convert him to 2B for the move).

Overall, the organization has been a let down this season.  A huge letdown.  This comes from a guy who is probably one of Mark Shapiro's biggest fans.  It's time to start saying..."We're going to win NOW".  Then go out and get someone to fire up this sloppy, erratic, yet-very talented team.
